Santa Clara incoming freshman Julian Clarke (Toronto, Canada) is playing this week as part of Canada's U18 National Team at the 2010 FIBA Americas Championship in San Antonio, Texas. Canada opened the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship by rolling over Uruguay 76-52 Saturday at St. Mary's University's Greehey Arena in San Antonio. They play Puerto Rico on Sunday.

A new father, Santa Clara head basketball coach Kerry Keating sees things a little differently these days. Maybe it's because his two-month old son is one of the 30+ kids under five years old whose parents work for the Bronco Athletic Department. Recently Keating and his wife Treena saw the story about the little girl who was 15 bike pedals away from her home before being hit and killed by a texting driver and also read about Oprah Winfrey's national "No Phone Zone" campaign to discourage distracted driving. And it sparked a idea for Keating.

Santa Clara Baseball Recognized for Academic Performance
The WCC was one of nine Division I conferences (31 total) to not have a single team penalized. As APR trends continued to rise across the board, the WCC has consistently remained above the national averages. For the second straight year, 12 of the WCC's 13 sponsored sports earned APRs higher than the national averages.
