SCU Incoming Freshman Part of Canada's U18 Team at 2010 FIBA Americas
Santa Clara incoming freshman Julian Clarke (Toronto, Canada) is playing this week as part of Canada's U18 National Team at the 2010 FIBA Americas Championship in San Antonio, Texas. Canada opened the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship by rolling over Uruguay 76-52 Saturday at St. Mary's University's Greehey Arena in San Antonio. They play Puerto Rico on Sunday.

A new father, Santa Clara head basketball coach Kerry Keating sees things a little differently these days. Maybe it's because his two-month old son is one of the 30+ kids under five years old whose parents work for the Bronco Athletic Department. Recently Keating and his wife Treena saw the story about the little girl who was 15 bike pedals away from her home before being hit and killed by a texting driver and also read about Oprah Winfrey's national "No Phone Zone" campaign to discourage distracted driving. And it sparked a idea for Keating.

Santa Clara University's Basketball Coaches paused Saturday to comment on the death of the Hall of Fame coach John Wooden. Wooden passed away on Friday at the age of 99 in Los Angeles.

Santa Clara Announces Two Additional Basketball Signees
Santa Clara head basketball coach Kerry Keating announced two additional signees as part of the 2010 Bronco signing class on Thurs., April 15. Julian Clarke (G, 6-3, 192, Toronto, Canada) and Lamb Autrey (G, 6-3, 185, Cibolo, Texas) both signed National Letters of Intent on April 15.

SCU Student-Athletes Post 3.0 GPA 9 of the last 10 Quarters
Santa Clara University's student-athletes posted a 3.08 grade point average (GPA) for the Winter 2010 quarter. Santa Clara's student-athletes have achieved a 3.0 GPA or better nine of the last 10 quarters. Santa Clara's cumulative GPA for its student-athletes is 3.06. Santa Clara student-athletes posted a 3.01 GPA for the Fall 2009 quarter.

Former WCC Player of the Year John Bryant's NBADL Game to be on VERSUS April 3
Bronco fans itching to see 2009 WCC Player of the Year John Bryant on the court again can get their fix on Sat., April 3 when his NBADL team, the Eric BayHawks, play at the Main Red Claws on a nationally-televised game on VERSUS at 8 pm. It is the 10th NBA Development League game the league has broadcast this season. The Red Claws, an expansion team for the 2009-10 NBA D-League season, have a perfect 6-0 record against the BayHawks this season.

Smith Named to CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Freshmen All-America Team
Santa Clara freshman Robert Smith has been named to the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Freshmen All-America Team. Smith was second on the team with 12.1 ppg and led the team with 3.1 apg. It is the second straight year a Bronco has been named to the team with 2009 WCC Newcomer of the Year Kevin Foster also receiving the honor from CollegeInsider.com.
